Subject: Announcing the Release of JiveTalk 1.0 and End of Beta Period

We are happy to announce the 1.0 release of JiveTalk (see release notes). This marks the end of our beta period for JiveTalk for BlackBerry.

We want to thank all of you who have helped us along the way. Your feedback and suggestions have been extremely valuable in making JiveTalk a better product.

Now some logistical details on the 1.0 release and our pricing structure going forward:

As an introductory offer, we’re making JiveTalk available for $19.95 for a device license, and $29.95 for a full user license. In summary, a device license is a perpetual license tied to a single device, non-transferable, whereas a full user license is a perpetual license tied to the user and full transferable across devices. Both licenses only require a one-time fee (no subscription) and include free software upgrades (following the same update process used during in the beta period). See our website <http://www.beejive.com> for more details.

We will also offer a free 30-day trial for JiveTalk. This is a no-obligation trial of fully functionaly software; the trial period starts later this week, at which point your beta license will automatically revert to a 30-day trial license.

This has been a very enjoyable beta process for our team at BeeJive. While somewhat sad to see the beta end, over the coming weeks and months, we will continue to enhance JiveTalk to make it even better. You will see some of the following in future releases:

- File transfers, buddy icons/profiles, better chat logging
- Additional IM services, such as Skype chat and MySpace IM
- Group chat and chat rooms

As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.

Thanks again,

Kai

8800 no 5 on PC World’s Top 100 Best Product of 2007

PC World has released their top 100 best products (em, gadgets?) of 2007 and the BlackBerry 8800 is number 5.

Check their (Liane Cassavoy) review.

Spot supports BlackBerry Curve (8300) and 8830 officially

spot @ 8300Spot, the GPS and mapping tool of Skylab Mobilesystems Ltd. does now officially support the brand new BlackBerry Curve and even BlackBerry 8830. As the curve does not have a built-in GPS receiver you will need an external Bluetooth GPS receiver to get positioning work. With its SD-Card support it will also be possible to import static map images and export (as well as import) waypoints in the GPX or LOC waypoint file format.

Features: streetlevel, topographic and satellite maps, field & map navigation, waypoint management, tracklogs.
Well, tracklogs can only be visualized and not exported but as a loyal reader you know that there is some other which does that great.
